Mataram, May 24, 2025 — The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Bastrindo), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Mataram, once again held its annual academic event, Kolokium Berseri, now in its fourth year. This program continues the long-standing collaboration between Bastrindo and the Nusantara Research Institute (IRN) as a testament to their shared commitment to the advancement of Indonesian language and literature studies.
This year’s colloquium, held online via Zoom on Saturday (May 24), focused on the theme of language and literature education and multivariate learning—strategic issues in the increasingly digital and multicultural landscape of language education today.
Two distinguished national speakers were invited to lead the discussion. The first was Dr. Sugit Zulianto, M.Pd., a language education expert from FKIP, Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta, who presented innovative approaches and strategies for teaching Indonesian across various educational levels. The second speaker was Prof. Dr. Mahsun, M.S., a professor at the University of Mataram and renowned scholar in genolinguistics, anthropological linguistics, and forensic linguistics. He delivered a lecture on the challenges and future directions of Indonesian language education based on local wisdom and current linguistic studies.
The event was moderated by Wika Wahyuni, M.Pd., who successfully maintained an engaging and interactive discussion atmosphere throughout the session. Nearly 100 participants from universities across Indonesia—including lecturers, students, and language and literature enthusiasts—attended the colloquium. Participant enthusiasm was evident from the active Q&A sessions and constructive feedback shared throughout the event.
Through Kolokium Berseri, the Bastrindo Study Program aims to establish a consistent academic platform for sharing ideas and research findings, while also strengthening national academic networks in the development of Indonesian language and literature studies.
