Mataram, August 29, 2024 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Mataram (Unram) held a ceremony to release students from the Biology Education Study Program who are participating in the Independent Study under the Kampus Merdeka Competency Program (PKKM). The event took place at the FKIP Unram campus and was attended by lecturers, students, and faculty leaders.
In her report, the Secretary of the Biology Education Study Program, Dra. Dewa Ayu Citra Rasmi, M.Si., stated that 30 students would participate in this independent study program for three months. The students will undertake tasks equivalent to one regular semester’s workload. “This program is designed to allow students to deepen their competencies through a more independent and structured learning experience,” explained Dra. Dewa Ayu. The Dean of FKIP, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., in his speech, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the organizing team in preparing and executing the event successfully. “I highly appreciate the hard work of the organizing team. This activity is one of our efforts to support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy,” said Drs. Lalu Zulkifli.
He also gave a message to the participants, emphasizing the importance of maintaining readiness and commitment throughout the program. "Participants are expected to remain 'ready' in carrying out the independent study activities. We also greatly hope for the support of all biology lecturers in ensuring the success of this program. It is crucial to have a solid understanding of the program for it to run smoothly," he added.
As a closing remark, the Dean of FKIP reminded the students to always take care of their health, maintain self-control, and carefully read the activity guidelines. "Don't forget to stay healthy, take care of yourself, and maintain self-control. Read the activity guide thoroughly as it will serve as your direction in carrying out this program," he advised before officially releasing the students to begin their independent study. This release event marked an important moment in supporting the development of students' competencies through a more flexible learning approach tailored to the needs of both industry and society.
