To address the issue of prolonged study periods caused by thesis completion delays, one of the PKM Teams from the English Education Study Program at the University of Mataram (Unram) is implementing the 2025 Pilot Project – Collaborative Research, aimed at finding a supervisory model to accelerate students’ thesis completion. Through this initiative, the recruitment and supervision of research proposals are conducted earlier, specifically while students are enrolled in the Research on ELT course.
Supervision is carried out in a blended mode – both online and offline – involving 21 sixth-semester students (surpassing the target of 15) and guided by 6 lecturers from the English Education Study Program at Unram. The overarching theme of this pilot project is the application of “Multi-Modal Texts in ELT.” Students are equipped with research skills, starting from topic selection to the comprehensive writing of research findings. With intensive guidance from lecturers, students are encouraged to collaborate in teams to broaden their academic insights and deepen their understanding of the research process. This activity will run until July 2025. It is expected that by the beginning of the seventh semester, students will have produced a research proposal that will be further developed into their thesis proposal. Congratulations to the students participating in this year’s Pilot Project.
This pilot project is expected to serve as an effective model for accelerating thesis writing supervision, providing graduates with collaborative research experience and the ability to produce high-quality theses in a more efficient time-frame.
