In order to improve teacher competence, SMPN 6 Mataram held a workshop entitled “Application of Deep Learning and Utilization of AI in Effective Learning” from May 26–28, 2025. The Deep Learning session was presented by the Postgraduate Community Service Team of Unram led by Dr. Satutik Rahayu, while the AI Utilization session was delivered by Drs. I Made Sujana, M.A., who was assigned by FKIP Unram at the school’s invitation.

The AI Utilization workshop began with a brainstorming session, where participants were tasked with practicing the development of learning ideas for their respective subjects. This was followed by further exploration of AI application using guided prompts. The workshop materials were presented after the teachers engaged in practical development activities. The content included an introduction to AI, types of AI, prompt-based module development exercises, and an introduction to AI in education—specifically the Magic School platform.
Given the wide age range of participants, their responses during the practical activities were also varied. Observations showed that some participants had successfully practiced limited development of their own teaching materials, including the creation of lesson plans (RPP) and student worksheets (LKPD). The activity continued with independent work on AI-based material development and concluded with presentations of the results (both deep learning and AI utilization).
It is hoped that this activity will inspire the teachers of SMPN 6 Mataram. The presence of FKIP Unram is also expected to contribute to improving teacher competence (Impactful Campus).[Facilitator: I Made Sujana, English Education Study Program, FKIP Unram]
