As a form of inter-institutional academic collaboration, Dr. Ahmad Junaidi, M.A., Ph.D., a lecturer from the English Education Study Program of FKIP Universitas Mataram, served as a guest speaker in a special lecture organized by the English Education Study Program of FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (UMMAT) on Thursday, July 3, 2025, held at the 1st Floor Hall of FKIP UMMAT.

The event carried the theme “Transforming English Language Learning in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Challenges, and Innovations,” and aimed to broaden the perspectives of lecturers and students on the shifting paradigm of education in the digital era, particularly in the context of utilizing AI-based technologies such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Duolingo.

Dr. Ahmad Junaidi elaborated on the ethical and pedagogical challenges arising amidst the rapid adoption of AI in classrooms. He emphasized that the use of technology must be approached wisely and reflectively to ensure it does not diminish the essential role of teachers as educators and character builders. His presentation was warmly received by the participants, who engaged actively in the discussion—including fellow speaker Irwandi, M.Pd., from UMMAT, who enriched the discourse by sharing practical insights from his field experience.

The event was organized by a team of lecturers from UMMAT: Rima Rahmaniah, M.Pd. (event chair), along with Irwandi, M.Pd., Humaira, M.Pd., Moh. Fauzi Bafadal, M.Pd., and M. Hudri, M.Pd. The organizers expressed their hope that this event would mark the beginning of a collaborative academic network between universities to support the transformation of language learning that is both innovative and adaptable to the digital era.

This event also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which promote innovation and inter-institutional collaboration in enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
