The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has begun to have a tangible impact on learning in elementary schools. This was evident in a workshop on the use of ChatGPT and Magic School, organized through a collaboration between the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Mataram, and elementary school teachers from Cluster 1, Sandubaya District, Mataram City.

The workshop aimed to help teachers address learning challenges in the digital era, particularly in developing instructional materials that traditionally require significant time and effort. Through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, teachers were equipped with skills to use AI to more quickly and efficiently develop lesson plans (RPP), teaching materials, assessment items, and scoring rubrics.

Prior to participating in the activity, most participants admitted that they had never utilized AI technology in their teaching. The heavy administrative workload often caused the updating of instructional materials to be neglected. The introduction of ChatGPT and Magic School therefore became a solution that opened new perspectives for the teachers.

Through this collaboration, FKIP University of Mataram hopes to further enhance teachers’ digital literacy and promote the sustainable implementation of technology-based learning in elementary schools. The Community Service Program (PKM) will continue in 2026 with two planned activities: the development of teacher profiles and school websites based on Google Sites, and the utilization of digital learning innovations.
