Mataram, October 3, 2025 — Students from the Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Mataram, have once again achieved remarkable success at the national level. A team consisting of Hamissatun Asri, Dini Fajriah Islami, and Putu Sri Astiningsih won 3rd Place in the Ethnomathematics category at the 2025 National Mathematics Learning Media Design Competition organized by the Mathematics Education Study Program of the University of Timor on Friday, October 3, 2025.

The competition carried the theme “Creating Creative and Educational Mathematics Learning Media as a Manifestation of Impactful Campuses” and was participated in by universities from across Indonesia. Participants were challenged to design innovative and interactive learning media that promote character building and local cultural values in mathematics education.

In the Ethnomathematics category, the team from FKIP Unram presented a learning media project rooted in local wisdom, creatively designed to be both engaging and educational. Their work not only highlighted mathematical concepts contextualized within regional culture but also illustrated how local values can serve as bridges for understanding abstract mathematical ideas in a more meaningful way.

This achievement aligns with the vision of the Mathematics Education Study Program at FKIP University of Mataram: “To develop research-based and globally oriented mathematics education through innovative learning characterized by ethnosasambo.” Through this accomplishment, the students have demonstrated their commitment to implementing ethnosasambo — an ethnomathematics approach based on the Sasak, Samawa, and Mbojo cultures — as an integral part of modern learning innovation.

This success proves that Mathematics Education students at Unram excel not only in academic mastery but also in integrating research, creativity, and culture into their learning practices. Their achievement reflects the spirit of globally minded graduates who remain deeply rooted in local values — a hallmark of mathematics education at the University of Mataram.
