Lombok, October 2, 2024 – Aruna Senggigi Resort & Convention Hotel is the venue for a prestigious event, The 6th International Conference on Education and Social Sciences (ICESS) 2024 which collaborates with The 15th Annual International Symposium of Foreign Language Learning (AISOFOLL).. The conference, which took place on October 2-3, 2024, carried the theme “Teaching Literacy and Practices in Diverse Contexts: Empowering Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Skills for Learners and Educators for Sustainable Development”. This activity is a form of collaboration carried out by FKIP Unram with SEAMEO Qitep in Language.
Attended by more than 150 participants from 13 countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia and the United States, the event reflected the growing importance of cross-country collaboration in advancing the quality of global education. A total of 9 keynote speakers and 4 invited speakers were presented to discuss current issues related to literacy, creativity and innovation in education. Keynote speakers included leading figures in the field of education, such as Prof. Kevin Chung Kien Hoa (The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong), Prof. Levi Geir Eidhamar (University of Agder, Norway), Prof. Andy Gao (University of New South Wales, Australia), and Prof. Emi Emilia (The Education University of Indonesia, Indonesia). They provided deep insights into how education can support sustainable development through entrepreneurial skills and innovation.
The event was opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Mataram , Prof. Akmaluddin, S.T., M.Sc.(Eng.), Ph.D., representing the Rector of Universitas Mataram. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of international cooperation to improve the quality of education and overcome global challenges together.
The opening report was also delivered by the Chairperson of the Committee, Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana, M.Pd., as well as the Director of SEAMEO SEAQIL, Dr. Brian Arieska Pranata, who appreciated the synergy between the University of Mataram and SEAMEO SEAQIL in realizing this event. The two-day conference consisted of plenary sessions on the first day, where participants could listen to presentations from experts, while the second day was filled with parallel sessions that provided room for more in-depth discussions in various topics around education and foreign language learning.(thor)
