Mataram, December 20, 2023 – Students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Bastrindo) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Mataram, organized a class drama performance as part of the Semester Final Exam for the Drama and Theater course. The class performance has become an annual tradition for third-semester students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program (Bastrindo) at FKIP Unram. Each year, it is organized by every third-semester student to fulfill the Drama and Theater course requirements. This activity typically takes place at the end of the semester as a presentation for the Semester Final Exam (UAS), providing valuable insights into Drama and Theater for students, especially those dedicated to the literary domain. “Yes, it has been ongoing since the early days of the Bastrindo program in the 80s,” said Mr. Muh. Khairussibyan, the lecturer in charge of the Drama and Theater course. Indeed, this class performance is regularly conducted by third-semester Bastrindo students. (29/12) Like the Class Performance in 2023, held from December 20, 2023, to December 27, 2023, with the theme “Self-Reflection through Creativity on the Art Stage.” On the first night, there was an opening ceremony featuring the traditional Gendang Beleq performance and the play “Why Does the Windy Come So Quickly?” as the first performance of the Class Performance 2023. The event was attended and inaugurated by Dr. Muh. Makhrus, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Mr. Muh. Khairussibyan, all Bastrindo students from the 2022 cohort, and the local community as the general audience to enliven the event. Numerous plays were staged during the performance, with each night featuring three plays from classes A, B, C, D, E, and F. The Class Performance also provided a new and unique experience for third-semester Bastrindo students. “This class performance provides a lot of unique experiences, such as performing, understanding drama and theater, and much more. It’s really exciting,” expressed Arinda (18), a third-semester Bastrindo student. (29/12). The Class Performance offered many new experiences for Bastrindo students at FKIP Unram, such as insights into Drama and Theater, providing on-stage experiences, and offering a platform for students to express themselves on the art stage. In addition to the opening night, there was also an award night or closing ceremony to conclude the Class Performance, simultaneously appreciating the best plays, actresses, and actors. The award night was lively with a martial arts performance by PSHT from Unram students, stand-up comedy by well-known guest stars, and a group singing event. Speeches were delivered by Mr. Sahar, Head of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program, Mr. Muh. Khairussibyan, and the committee chair, and it was attended by Mr. Sahabudin.
