Ade Muhwinsyah is not a foreign figure in the world of literature at the University of Mataram. As a student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Ade has shown extraordinary interest and talent in the world of poetry and literacy since the beginning of his lecture. Ade’s perseverance in learning and honing his skills has made him often involved in various campus art activities, both as a competition participant and coach for his colleagues.

About Peksiminas

The National Student Art Week (Peksiminas) is a highly anticipated event for students throughout Indonesia. This event is a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents in various categories, such as dance, music, theater, fine arts, and literature. Organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Peksiminas aims to develop the potential of arts and culture among students. Since it was first held, Peksiminas has become a prestigious event attended by students from various universities throughout the archipelago. One of the most attention-grabbing categories is Poetry Reading, where participants must be able to deliver poetry with full appreciation, good technique, and a deep understanding of the poetry text performed. This year, Peksiminas 2024 is again held with the same spirit, providing opportunities for young artists to show their abilities.

Competition Process

Ade Muhwinsyah is not a newcomer to the competition. Before participating in Peksiminas 2024, Ade had gone through various stages of very strict selection, both at the faculty and university levels. Careful preparation is the main key to Ade’s success. Since a few months before Peksiminas, Ade has been intensively practicing, supported by his supervisors and friends at FKIP Unram. Poetry reading practice is not an easy thing. Ade must be able to master the text of the poem, understand its meaning, and deliver it with the right intonation and expression. In addition, he must also pay attention to body gestures and interaction with the audience to give a maximum performance. In every training session, Ade received input from the mentors, which he then applied consistently until the day of the competition. When the day of the competition arrived, Ade performed confidently in front of the judges and the audience. He performed poems by Indonesian writers that were full of moral messages and social criticism. His success in executing the poem perfectly made him succeed in attracting the attention of the judges, so he was awarded a silver medal. Although he did not get gold, Ade’s achievement was still remarkable considering the very tight competition in the Men’s Poetry Reading category.
