Mataram – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Mataram University, through the Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKN) Study Program, held a Public Lecture entitled “Quo Vadis of Inclusive Education” on Monday, February 17, 2024 at the DOME Building, Mataram University. This activity presented two experienced resource persons, namely Dr. H. Aidi Furqan, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Head of the NTB Provincial Education and Culture Office) and Dr. Muh. Mabrur Haslan, M.Hum. (FKIP Unram Lecturer).
In his remarks, the Dean of FKIP Unram, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized that inclusive education is a crucial issue that must be the main concern of educators and academics. He appreciated the PPKN Study Program for consistently organizing public lectures with relevant and needed topics. The Dean also emphasized the importance of the participants’ seriousness in understanding and mastering the material presented in order to contribute significantly to the implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia.
In the presentation session, Dr. H. Aidi Furqan, S.Pd., M.Pd., discussed local government policies and strategies in supporting inclusive education, including challenges faced in the field and solutions that can be applied. Meanwhile, Dr. Muh. Mabrur Haslan, M.Hum., highlighted the philosophical and implementative aspects of inclusive education in Indonesia and how educators can play an active role in creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
This activity is in line with the commitment of the University of Mataram in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 10 (Reducing Inequality). Inclusive education aims to ensure that all individuals, including those with special needs, have equal access to quality education.
Through this public lecture, FETT Unram further strengthens its role as an educational institution that not only produces professional educators but is also committed to the values of inclusiveness and equality in the world of education.
