Mataram, April 14, 2025 — In the spirit of unity and spiritual renewal, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Mataram hosted a Halal Bihalal gathering and Hajj send-off ceremony on Monday morning at the 3rd floor auditorium of FKIP Building A.
The event brought together faculty leadership, department heads, study program coordinators, lecturers, and administrative staff. It served as an opportunity to seek and grant forgiveness following the holy month of Ramadan, celebrate the joy of Eid al-Fitr, and honor members of the FKIP community embarking on their pilgrimage to Mecca.
“FKIP has achieved great things thanks to the contributions of many people across generations who have nurtured a spirit of progress. Let us strive to be not only intellectually capable, but also individuals of strong character and integrity,” he stated. In his opening remarks, FKIP Dean Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized that the event was more than a ceremonial tradition—it was a moment for reflection on shared values of humanity, collaboration, and character development.

He also highlighted the importance of self-control, personal discipline, and the ability to think critically and creatively in navigating the evolving challenges of education.
"The spirit of Eid and togetherness offers a valuable opportunity to reflect and strengthen our contributions to both our community and society at large," he added.
The event also featured a spiritual talk (tausiyah) by TGH. Ahmad Muammar Nasrullah, Chairman of the Mataram branch of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). He shared insights into the deeper meaning of the halal bihalal tradition.
"Halal bihalal is a uniquely Indonesian tradition, introduced by KH. Wahid Hasyim as a way to strengthen unity and social harmony. It serves as a spiritual bridge that fosters empathy and social solidarity within our communities," he explained.
TGH Muammar also offered heartfelt advice to the prospective Hajj pilgrims from FKIP. He reminded them that Hajj is not just a physical or ritual journey—it is a profound spiritual transformation that begins and ends with sincerity. He encouraged them to carry the values of goodness and piety throughout their pilgrimage.
The Hajj send-off ceremony was filled with emotion, as prayers and well wishes were extended to the pilgrims, with hopes that they would return as hajis mabrur—those whose pilgrimage is accepted—and become agents of goodness in their communities.
This event underscores FKIP Unram’s commitment to shaping character, fostering unity, and amplifying both social and spiritual impact, within the academic environment and beyond. It reflected values such as compassion, respect for diversity, and continuous personal growth—core principles that are vital in both education and community life.
