The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Mataram held a Workshop on the Drafting of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) document on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The event, initiated by the Faculty Quality Assurance Unit (GPMF), took place in the Senate Meeting Room on the 3rd floor of Building A and was attended by 55 participants representing study programs and departments across the faculty.
In his report, the Head of FKIP’s Quality Assurance Forum (FPM), Dr. Drs. Karnan, M.Si., emphasized that the real challenge begins after achieving “Excellent” accreditation status. Therefore, an in-depth discussion and understanding of the SPMI documents are essential. “We want to ensure that these documents are not only well-documented but truly implemented. It’s crucial that all processes are understood by everyone involved,” he stated.
Dr. Karnan highlighted that the workshop focused on four core documents: standards for education, research, community service, and non-academic activities. Participants were expected to have reviewed the draft materials in advance to ensure dynamic and productive discussions, aimed at producing a comprehensive and integrated quality report.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FKIP, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., stressed the importance of coordination and collaboration across all units within the faculty. “FKIP functions as a system composed of various subsystems that must work in synergy. We cannot operate in silos,” he explained. He also underlined that shared understanding and collective effort are key to maintaining institutional quality.

Moreover, he noted that this workshop is part of FKIP’s broader preparation towards becoming a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) and achieving international accreditation. “Everyone has a role to play, contributing to the institution’s overall performance. Let us continue working together to maintain the ‘Excellent’ accreditation status we have achieved,” he concluded before officially opening the workshop.
This activity marks an important milestone in strengthening quality assurance governance at FKIP Unram. By involving both academic and administrative stakeholders, the SPMI documents are expected to serve not merely as administrative formalities but as living guides for implementing higher education processes throughout the faculty.
The workshop also reflects FKIP Unram’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
