Mataram, August 14–16, 2025 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Mataram held the 2025 College Life Orientation (PKKMB), or Introduction to Campus Life for New Students, over a three-day program from Thursday to Saturday at the M. Yusuf Abu Bakar Auditorium, University of Mataram. The event was attended by 1,603 new students officially joining the FKIP Unram academic community.
In his report, the organizing committee chair, Dr. Amrullah, M.Pd., presented the distribution of new students across 10 undergraduate programs and 2 master’s programs: English Education (243), Indonesian Language Education (222), Sociology Education (161), Civic Education (134), Mathematics Education (150), Biology Education (129), Chemistry Education (85), Physics Education (80), Early Childhood Education (114), and Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) (305). “All students are ready to make PKKMB 2025 a success. We apologize for any shortcomings during the implementation and extend our gratitude to the leadership, officials, students, and staff who contributed greatly to preparing this event,” he said.
Dean of FKIP Unram, Drs. Lalu Zulkifli, M.Si., Ph.D., in his remarks, welcomed and motivated the new students. “Welcome to one of the best faculties at the University of Mataram. Always remember who you are, where you come from, and where you are heading. Do not easily compare yourself with others, because you all have the same opportunity to succeed,” he emphasized. He underlined the importance of creating a calm learning atmosphere, developing a strong mindset, and becoming students with character and independence.

The Dean also highlighted that FKIP Unram currently has 12 accredited Unggul (Excellent) study programs—10 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate. “Being a student of an excellent program is not easy, so you must also demonstrate excellence and global competitiveness. If you cannot endure the challenges of learning, then you must be prepared to face the pain of ignorance. Do not give up easily—prepare yourselves with balance between remembrance and reflection, prayer and effort,” he advised.
Meanwhile, President of BEM FKIP Unram, Wahyu Agusfian, also encouraged the new students. “Welcome to FKIP Unram. You are the chosen ones among thousands who applied. Now you are part of this big family. Campus life is certainly different from high school; this is a process of struggle,” he said. He also cited Tan Malaka’s thoughts on the three purposes of education, along with Prof. Husni Muas’s message to keep striving to become good people. “Hopefully, we can all become a better generation for the future,” he added.
