
Dr. Baharuddin, M.Hum
Baharuddin obtained his bachelorette degree in English Literature in 1992 from Diponegoro University Semarang, Indonesia. He then earned his master’s degree majoring in translation studies in 2007 from University of Udayana Denpasar, Bali Indonesia. His Doctorate is from Udayana University, with his doctoral thesis in translation studies, researching the translation of signage in public space on Lombok.
He secured his job and has been working for English Education Program, University of Mataram, Lombok, Indonesia. In the program, he teaches some subjects related to translation studies; translation, interpreting, IT-based translation, and subtitling. He also conducted some research in the field of translation studies, working with students of the Program. His research is very much related to translation technologies, linguistic landscape, and religious linguistics.
Besides being a researcher and an academician, since 1992, he has been a professional translator, member and former head of The Association of Indonesian Translators Branch Nusatenggara, Indonesia in 2013-1016. The Association of Indonesia Translators itself is a member of Federation de Internationale Traductur based in Paris, France. His interests as a researcher are translation, linguistics, and teaching.
