Cakranegara, 13 August 2025 — SDN 27 Cakranegara hosted a training program on Developing Ethnopedagogy-Based Teaching Materials to Enhance Numeracy Literacy for Elementary School Teachers. The event was attended by elementary school teachers from across the Cakranegara area, aiming to strengthen educators’ competence in designing contextual, innovative teaching resources rooted in local wisdom.
In his opening remarks, the Principal of SDN 27 Cakranegara highlighted the relevance of ethnopedagogy-based teaching materials to the local socio-cultural context. He emphasized that this approach not only transfers knowledge but also instills cultural values aligned with students’ character. “Teachers need to bring learning closer to students’ lives. By connecting numeracy with local culture, students can more easily understand and apply mathematical concepts in everyday life,” he stated.
Participants received materials on the fundamentals of ethnopedagogy, strategies for integrating local culture into teaching resources, and hands-on practice in developing learning tools based on local wisdom. One of the most engaging sessions was a workshop on designing numeracy problems using Sasak cultural contexts, such as traditional market activities, folk games, and agricultural practices.
Resource persons underlined the importance of innovation in designing lessons that are enjoyable, relevant, and meaningful. Ethnopedagogy-based numeracy literacy, they noted, is expected to improve students’ critical thinking skills while also fostering appreciation for local culture.
The training was warmly welcomed by the participants, who expressed hope that similar programs would continue in the future, enabling more teachers to create creative, student-centered teaching materials in line with the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants in recognition of their active involvement.
With this training, elementary school teachers in Cakranegara are expected to become agents of change in improving students’ numeracy literacy through an ethnopedagogical approach that integrates knowledge with local cultural values.
